My adventure started out in NYC where I was staying for a work trip. I left on the bus up to Paramus NJ where I was staying overnight to be closer to the race on Saturday.
Thanks to the Hyatt Place for a free breakfast. A heaping bolw of oatmeal with blueberries, cranberries, and pecans. Yummy
in my Spidy shirt – ready to get this thing started
Excited, and a bit scared, all at the same time!
the 13:30 start time group making it’s way to the start line
Jarrett and I posing before the race – all clean and fresh!
First failed challenge – I could not get that spear to stick in the target. #30burpees
No problems with this obstacle – up and over in a jiffy!
Another climbing obstacle – fun fun fun!
Totally disappointed by the rope obstacle as we had practiced before the race started with ropes that had a few knots and I was able to get to the top relatively easily. No knots, no go… I could hoist myself up with my legs but when I needed to rewrap, I could not hold on with my arms and kept slipping down. #frustrated
Spartan finisher!
We rocked this!! It was a ton of fun.
Some of the other obstacles were:
– running the actual mountain for 5K (up and down and up the hill)
– climbing over walls, walking up a wall with a rope, climbing over an angled wall, climbing over a high log, walking through mud, walking through a mud/water pit, and then going under water, crawling under barbed wire (luckily no mud there), swinging between monkey bars (no go for me), swinging rings (also a no can do), and jumping over fire coals (the jump was not that big).
